Conference Background: Chinese Population Geographic Information System (CPGIS), is an international academic community, which was initiated by Chinese scholars at home and abroad related to GIS in 1992 in the State University of New York at Buffalo, aiming to strengthen information exchanges and cooperation between scholars and scientists at home and abroad engaged in geographic information science. Currently, it has a membership of hundreds of people, mainly in North America, East Asia, Europe and Australia. In 2016, invited by Changsha University of Science and Technology, CPGIS organize 12 experts to give lectures in Hunan to explore GIS / RS / GPS technology in water conservancy, transportation and other aspects of geographic information.
